wood block printer

on the way up to kiyamizu temple we happened across an artist, tetsupei kawamura, creating wonderful, traditional woodblock prints. it was fascinating to watch the process. the last picture here is the final print.

  1. Dear Carin
I have been having a wonderful time browsing in your blog, looking at the pictures that bring to life many of the fascinating things we saw during my time with you in Japan -- the nishinju textile neighborhood, the wedding at the gion shrine, the koshin (monkey) shrine, our great vegetarian buddhist meal at the daitokoji, and of course, this delightful woodcut printer!
    Keep posting!
    Lots of love
    Marianne
